Jehovah’s Place
Our church welcomes you to Jehovah’s Place, a service just for children, ages 2 through 5 years.
We begin by visiting Melody Acres, a farm setting, hosted by David Holcomb, a unique place where we get acquainted with all kinds of different “folks”. We get to talk with Larry, the cucumber, Teddy, the farmer’s son, who is always getting into trouble, Missy, the lovable sheep dog, and many other interesting characters.
We then proceed to Bethlehem Village, a place where Bible stories seem to come alive, with 3D murals. We praise the Lord with musical instruments, have a blast with object lessons, learn new Bible verses through singing and all sorts of funny actions and motions and play a game that further establishes the theme and Bible verse.
We do stop for a quick break and then we have an actual worship time. We may use streamers, ribbons, scarves and other resources to ‘slow down a bit’ to prepare for the Bible story. We use many props so the children can not only see, but touch, smell, hear and sometimes taste, to attain as much as possible.
The class then proceeds to ‘Craft-N-Things for the making of a craft that develops a further meaning and knowledge of the theme and Bible verse. The craft ideas are combined from the talents of Amy Smith, Jamie Walker, and Julie Hughes. The children love their crafts as they get to use paste, glitter and a variety of craft items. We feel this is such an important time to enforce their memory of some special story or verse they heard for that day.
We then travel back to Bethlehem Village for prayer time and a time to reflect on what has been learned with the anticipation of a small reward. The children have an exciting time, not always realizing that it has been quite a day of learning God’s treasured Word.
